Great Deals for a Great Cause!

On Saturday, May 15th 2010, Royal LePage offices across Canada came together to host the second annual National Garage Sale for Shelter, with 100% of proceeds going to help women and children living with abuse.

The day started out cold and windy, but with a small army of agents, admin and management staff we began unloading our bounty of donations. It seemed a never-ending task (thanks to the generosity of the community), but by 8:00 a.m. we had just about unloaded every last item! Shoppers began to arrive before the unloading was complete, but we were ready for them! A steady stream of shoppers kept us busy all day, and we were excited to see so many things leaving the parking lot ~ customers happy with their found treasure. We were just as excited to share the mission of The Shelter Foundation and let everyone know just where their dollars were going.

Rounding out the atmosphere was our delectable Baked Goods Table, which began the day groaning under the weight of the donated goodies and finished the day with just crumbs as evidence of what had been! Shopping was interrupted with breaks to enjoy a hot dog or freshly popped kettle corn.

While the weather never really came through for us that day, our shoppers, our volunteers and all those who spread the word about the garage sale truly did! We finished the day raising $6,683.80 and every penny will go to help local community shelters.

Our thanks to each and every one of you who took some time out of your Saturday to support our Foundation. We truly believe that every house deserves to be a home and we are working to put abuse out of commission!
